Getting back on track – managing progress issues for HDR students Online

Research Services will run HDR supervisor development training and the registration is open now.

Research supervision is a specialised practice, distinct from conducting research and different from teaching coursework. Engaging in ongoing professional development helps supervisors strengthen their capacity, enhance their confidence, and support HDR students more effectively across their careers.

To remain in good standing on the HDR Supervision Register, supervisors must stay up to date with required training.

This session will be conducted by A/Prof Vicki Lorrimar and A/Prof Robyn Creagh, who will guide participants through the foundational knowledge of managing progress issues for HDR students at UNDA.

  • How to set expectations progress and warning signs / when to start worrying.
  • Early intervention – tips for communication and intervention strategies to keep students on track (before unsatisfactory progress outcomes).
  • Intervention plans (when students make unsatisfactory progress).

Join us to strengthen your supervision practice and support exceptional research outcomes.
