Open Access: Community over Commercialisation

Open Access: Community over Commercialisation Online

Join us for a thought-provoking presentation during Open Access Week 2024 that explores the power of open-access publishing at Notre Dame. Our keynote speaker, Kathryn Hird (Associate Dean, Research - School of Medicine), will share her inspiring work on student-led Wikipedia editing to provide free, accurate medical information to people worldwide and the critical role of collaboration in its development.

A series of lightning talks will feature Margaret Merga (Associate Professor - School of Education) on "Knowledge mobilisation, open access and impact", Glenn Morrison (Associate Professor - Postgraduate Research Coordinator, School of Philosophy & Theology) on his work with the journal "Religions" and David Geelan (National Head of School - School of Education) on experiences with open-access journals. Hear about their challenges, the benefits they've realised and their advice for others considering this path.

Don't miss this opportunity to be part of a growing movement to free information from commercialisation!

Online: streamed via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent to you 1 day prior to the start of the session in the reminder email.

Please confirm your place using your Notre Dame email address, and by clicking the Register button below.
